The East African countries (Uganda, Rwanda and D.R. Congo) are located in the eastern region of Africa, each diverse in language, culture, landscape and social way of life. But with the common interest of tourism these countries have found fruit in possession of gorillas in their countries. This has led to the increase in number of tourists who visit these counties just to have an experience with the gorillas during their tour. A combined gorilla tour in all the three countries gives tourists an opportunity to have a different gorilla experience in a different ambience all in one trip. On each tour one gets to fully witness the difference in the beauty of each country that it possesses in accommodating the gorillas. Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo each inhabits different gorilla species that is found in their national parks. Of these countries, D.R. Congo harbors the eastern gorilla species while mountain gorilla species are found in Uganda and Rwanda. Therefore, a tourist gets a chance to have an encounter with these species all in one combined gorilla tour.

Combined gorilla tours are usually carried out in national parks, the natural homes of the mountain gorillas. In Uganda, gorilla tours are conducted in Mgahinga national park and Bwindi impenetrable national park all found in the western region of the country. In Rwanda, gorilla tours are carried out in Volcanoes National park – Northwest of Rwanda, the only national park with mountain gorillas in the country. And lastly for Democratic Republic of Congo lowland gorilla tours are done in both Kahuzi-Biega national park and Virunga national park for mountain gorillas in the eastern region of the country. On each combined safari in view of the three countries all visited in one tour, travelers get to experience the different gorilla lifestyle through the various gorilla families encountered in the respective national parks. Each national park has different gorilla families that are habituated which the visitors get to see.
