Before encountering a combined gorilla experience in the three countries, one needs to purchase a gorilla permit provided by the respective countries. A gorilla permit in Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo costs $600, $1500 and $400 respectively; but for Uganda the price will increase from $600 to $700 with effect from 1st July. It is recommended to book in advance any gorilla tour due to the high demand of the permits especially during peak seasons. The gorilla permits are purchased from authorized bodies in the counties and these permits are only valid for a single trek, for one individual person that is interested in trekking these beautiful gorilla species.
